Professor Hussain Syed graduated from Dow Medical College in 1994 and completed his oncology training in Birmingham, UK, earning a Doctorate in Oncology from the University of Birmingham. He is Professor and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. His research focuses on urological cancers, clinical trials, and translational medicine, with landmark work in bladder cancer organ preservation (BC2001 trial, NEJM 2012) that changed global practice. He has authored over 145 peer-reviewed publications, secured £22M in research funding, and serves as chief investigator on multiple international trials.
