Dr. Metzger earned his MD from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 2003 and completed training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology by 2008. He then pursued a research fellowship at the Institute Jules Bordet in Brussels, focusing on invasive lobular carcinoma, the second most common subtype of breast cancer. Since joining the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2012, Dr. Metzger has developed an active clinical practice and research program aimed at improving breast cancer treatment strategies. He also designs and leads clinical trials with a translational focus and serves as an Executive Officer at the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology
