Dr. Musallam is the Group Chief Research Officer at Burjeel Holdings and Founding Director of the Center for Research on Rare Blood Disorders at Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi. He also directs the Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Center and serves as Adjunct Clinical Professor at Khalifa University. Holding an MD from the American University of Beirut and a PhD from Leiden University, he has authored over 220 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 61). His pioneering research on thalassemia has transformed global management guidelines and led to the development of novel therapies. In 2025, he received the European Haematology Association Clinical Excellence Award.
